What a delightful book! I love the warmth, humor, and curiosity you approach the Amish with. If we were all as humble and open in our dealings with those different from us, the world would be a much better place!
Interesting and thoughtful. Funny too! TBH, I don't usually love short stories, but the author obviously comes from a position of respect and liking for a culture quite different from her own. A lighthearted book that really presents a picture of day-to-day life in Amish families, not just the outward facing image most of us see.
What a beautiful work - I was grinning nearly the whole time. It truly opened my mind and challenged many of my assumptions while providing pure, simple joy.
I enjoyed it a great deal. The information of how their cultures differ is very interesting. The role of the sexes, the isolation from society, the acceptance of male direction, the avoidance of medicine and other modern devices. It is all such a challenge to our materialist values.
I did appreciate it and chuckled with some of the stories. We really are human, created in the image of God, same as the Namish, and do love the Lord. I have never seen "strong drink", in my over 60 years, served at any gathering. That is my only concern with the book.
I so enjoyed every story. "Chores" was my favorite. Found myself laughing throughout. I'd love to read more!
