What a delightful book! I love the warmth, humor, and curiosity you bring to your exploration of Amish culture. If we were all as humble and open in our dealings with those different from us, the world would be a much better place!
Interesting and thoughtful. Funny too! TBH, I don't usually love short stories, but this book offers a unique perspective on Amish culture. The author clearly comes from a place of respect and appreciation for a way of life quite different from her own.
What a beautiful work - I was grinning nearly the whole time. It truly opened my mind and challenged many of my assumptions while providing pure, simple joy.
I enjoyed it a great deal. The book reviews on Amish culture reveal fascinating details about how their cultures differ. The roles of the sexes, their isolation from society, the acceptance of male direction, and the avoidance of medicine and other modern devices present a significant challenge to our materialist values.
I appreciated the book and chuckled at some of the short stories. We truly are human, created in the image of God, and we love the Lord. In my over 60 years, I've never seen 'strong drink' served at any gathering, which is my only concern regarding this book.
I truly enjoyed every story, especially 'Chores'. I found myself laughing throughout and would love to read more!
